By now most of us will know or have at least heard of the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people. His holiness visited the University of Limerick back in April 2011 to give a very inspiring and motivating speech about the subject of forgiveness.

As we want to raise awareness about social evils through this website, his Holiness is already thinking and reflecting about some of the same issues we’re facing within our own communities. As we all know the Tibetan people have suffered some major setbacks during the last decades and were treated in an inhumane manner.

However, instead of rioting and giving up to violence and warfare, the spiritual leaders have pleaded for peaceful demonstrations against the Chinese government. Though the protestants were often scattered, beaten, captured and sometimes even killed during their peaceful protests, the Dalai Lama kept his vow to never resolve an argument with fighting.

The world media soon picked up on this act of humanity and his Holiness became one of the most respected people on the planet. The Dalai Lama stands for peace, forgiveness and a balance in life. Below you can watch the full speech he gave on the subject of forgiveness when he visited the University of Limerick.

Perhaps we can all learn something valuable from his speech..
